Learn-to-Swim Summer Program

All lessons & programs are held at the Ramona Oaks Pool.  American Red Cross Swim and Water Safety Program combine the best in swim instruction with a strong emphasis on drowning prevention and water safety. American Red Cross Learn-to-Swim is made up of six levels of swimming and water safety instruction. Levels Preschool through Level 6 are limited to four (4) participants per class. Parent/Tot classes vary from four (4) to six (6) participants.

Monday – Friday Cost: $85 for residents; $90 for non-residents

Monday, Wednesday, Friday Cost: $70 for residents; $75 for non-residents

Classes are 30 minutes and run for two weeks

Open Registration — May 14 9:30 am - 2 pm

Smaller class sizes allow instructors to provide quality instruction, while maintaining safety for each class. Each student gets the attention they need in a safe environment. The result is a fun program designed to accomplish the most from each class.

Class Descriptions

Parent/Tot: For infants and toddlers ages 6 months to 3 years. Parents are required to get in the water in this class. Infant and toddlers learn to be comfortable in the water as they learn basic safety skills through games and songs. Kids that are not potty-trained are required to wear 3 layers of protection: 1) Little Swimmers, 2) Plastic pants, and 3) Bathing suit.
Preschool: For ages 3 to 5. Helps young students adjust to the water and learn valuable water skills through teaching games and play time.
Level 1: Introduction to Water Skills — For ages 6 and up. Helps students feel comfortable and safe in the water and introduces basic stroke techniques.
Level 2: Fundamental Aquatic Skills — Gives students success with fundamental swimming skills, including front crawl and back crawl.
Level 3: Stroke Development — Builds on the skills in Level 2 with additional guided practice. Students must be able to swim front crawl and back crawl.
Level 4: Stroke Refinement — Develops confidence in the strokes learned and improves other aquatic skills. Also introduces breaststroke.
Level 5: Stroke Refinement — Provides further coordination and refinement of strokes. Students are introduced to the dolphin kick for butterfly.
Level 6: Swimming and Skill Proficiency — Focuses on preparing students for future aquatic involvement with a variety of activities, including personal water safety, lifeguard readiness and fitness swimming.
Adult: Classes are available for any level upon request.
Private Swim Lessons: One-on-one instruction for adults or children. All levels, beginner to the athlete who wants to perfect technique. $30 per half hour.
Special Needs: Group classes are available or one-on-one classes. We have staff that are experienced in working with everyone’s needs. Call for more information.
H20 Camp  - Aug 13 - 17 | 9:00 am - 12:00 pm | Ramona Oaks Pool
Join us for FUN in the water! Camp runs Aug. 14 through 18, from 9 am - noon. It will include instruction in the four primary strokes, water polo, and junior lifeguarding skills, as well as free swim time with organized aquatic games. This camp is limited to 20 participants between the ages of 8 - 14. The cost is $70 for residents and $75 for non-residents.
Swim with Mermaids  Aug. 13 - 17 | 12:15 - 1:00 pm | Ramona Oaks Pool
This is an exciting new class! All ages are welcome to join the fun, Including adults. Come join us for some end-of Summer fun. Splash, swim, and move like a mermaid. The class will run for 45 minutes with (4) four participants per class. The cost is $75 for residents and $85 for non-residents. When the fun is all done you still can enjoy the days after summer is gone with a mermaid tail of your very own to keep. Early registration is required to ensure tails are ordered and received before class begins.
